Stump Grinding

Russell Tree Experts provides tree removal services for residential, commercial, and utility clients! When you choose Russell Tree Experts, you choose an experienced company of 25+ ISA Certified Arborists®️ with the proper tools, techniques, and equipment needed to safely perform tree removals of any size in any setting, spacious or cramped, day or night. Depending on the specific tree and tree setting, we utilize various methods of removal such as tree felling, tree climbing and rigging, or the use of heavy equipment. To minimize impact to the surrounding turf, we use outrigger pads on our equipment, lay down weight distribution mats when needed, and use articulated loaders with lighter, wider, turf tires.

Although we’re tree lovers and removal is never our first choice, removal is necessary in certain situations such as mitigating risk of property damage, decreasing the spread of an infectious pest or disease, reducing the risk to utilities, staying up to code, getting rid of invasive species, making room for a new specimen tree, and more.

Stump Grinding options

  • Below Grade

The stump will be ground out to approximately 4-6” below the surface of the soil which is sufficient for growing grass, if desired. The stump shavings (which is a dense mixture of dirt and wood shavings) are left on site unless you choose the Grinding + Clean-Up or Stump Restoration option (see below).

  • Deep & Wide

The stump will be ground out deep and wide - approximately 16-18” below the surface and as wide as needed. The stump shavings (which is a dense mixture of dirt and wood shavings) are left on site unless you choose the Grinding + Clean-Up or Stump Restoration option (see below).

  • Grinding + Clean Up

The stump will be ground to your chosen depth (below grade or deep & wide) and the shavings above ground level are removed. Choose this option if you prefer we haul away the dense & heavy shavings (consisting of dirt, rocks, and wood shavings) so the site is level and ready for your next project.

  • Grinding + Restoration

The stump will be ground to your chosen depth (below grade or deep & wide), the stump shavings are removed, and fresh topsoil is placed on top. All you will need to do is sprinkle grass seed (and water) and it’ll be like the stump was never there!
